Program fees

Registration fee: US$50 (non-refundable)

Program fee: US$3,200 (includes the $500 deposit required to reserve space in program)

The registration fee applies only to students who are accepted to the program and is paid together with the program fee.  This fee covers the cost of providing comprehensive pre-arrival support and coordinating your homestay.  No fee will be charged to students who are not accepted to the program.

The program fee includes:

  • Initial orientation
  • Registration and tuition for both courses at the Universidad de Zacatecas
  • All readings and didactic materials for both courses
  • Charter bus transportation to/from Quetzaltenango at the beginning and end of program
  • Transportation for field excursions
  • Family homestay, including 3 meals per day Monday-Friday
  • Ongoing in-country support
  • Student ID card
  • A donation of non-perishable goods for each of the communities we visit
  • This fee does not include airfare, tuition at student’s home university,  hotel accommodations if necessary*, weekend meals and additional travel expenses, students’ personal expenses and passport and visa fees**.

* The group will return to Guatemala City on August 9 and students should book their return flights on August 10 to avoid possible missed flights.  The cost of your hotel stay will not exceed $25 per night and INCEDES will arrange comfortable hotel accommodations near the airport.  Also, all students must arrive in Guatemala no later than 11:30am on June 14.  INCEDES will also arrange lodging for students arriving on June 13.

** Upon entering Guatemala, students who are US or Canadian citizens will be issued a tourist visa valid for 90 days at no cost.   Students from other countries should consult their embassy’s website for information about visa requirements.
